You will be responsible for building and deploying new front-end features to Westhaven’s WordPress websites and handling the integration of Westhaven sites into Zapier, Google, and Business Systems. About the role
Due to continued expansion, Westhaven is seeking a full-time, skilled Web Developer who will be responsible for front-end development of new web pages and improving the organisation’s existing websites. You will be responsible for building and deploying new front-end features to Westhaven’s WordPress websites and handling the integration of Westhaven sites into Zapier, Google, and Business Systems. The Web Developer will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance of related processes and systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using web development best practices
  • Create basic website layouts and user interfaces with HTML and CSS
  • Integrate data from various back-end web services and databases
  • Work with stakeholders to gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Create and maintain software/website documentation
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility of new features
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our sites
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies and industry trends and apply them to operations and activities
  • Collaborate with business units to realise the visual design
  • Manage user access to the organisation's social media accounts. (including conducting periodic reviews of access lists)
  • Assist the business with Internal and External digital publications as required.


To be at the forefront of this opportunity you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, software development, or related field or five years of related experience 
  • Web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Back-end platform and system knowledge of Apache, PHP, and Debian 
  • Content management systems (CMSs) including WordPress, LumApps, and BigCommerce
  • UI/UX design experience
  • Working knowledge of graphic design 
  • REST API development
  • Relational database knowledge, including MySQL
  • Agile and test-driven development best practices


Essential requirements of the role

  • A current NSW Driver’s licence
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC)
  • Appropriately vaccinated against Covid-19 and able to provide evidence
